1st New Treatment

Nov 3rd, Friday, I had the first of the new treatments. My stomach was very upset that morning so when the treatment started I got sick. I was given a dose of the Ativan which made me sleep for awhile. I slept at home the rest the day. Saturday was actually a really good day. My stomach was feeling okay, I helped with some yard work, and went out to dinner with my family. Unfortunately, Sunday I was very weak, headache, and chest pains. I felt pretty much the same way on Monday. I've been trying to keep up with the iron supplements which should help. The only thing that worries me is the persistent chest pain. It's tolerable pain just very uncomfortable.

Today is voting day, I managed to make it to the polls, vote, and get back home before falling over =). I'm sure things will get better toward the end of the week. I just hope that the stomach upset doesn't happen each time I go down for a treatment. I feel it's become a mental thing that when I think about the treatment I automatically start getting sick.

Just FYI - Taxol treatments are normally given every 2 to 3 weeks. That I'm HER/2 positive I have to have the Herceptin treatment weekly. Because of the weekly treatment the Taxol dose is portioned out. Taxol is a systemic treatment so it has a lot of the same side affects as the Doxorubicin. The hope is getting less of it weekly will make it less harsh. I have to say that I am a little worried the affects will build each time like the Doxorubicin did. I guess we'll know the answer to that soon enough.

Friday - two down and ten to go but who's counting =)
